Launching Day Care Activities For Different Age Groups
Customers avail day care services if they know that the day care activities being implemented are suitable to child's development. Most parents want someone to not only look after their children, but at the same time having fun and learning. Initiation of stimulating day care activities to a child will not only help them physically, but also mentally, and emotionally.
Day care programs should be modified depending on the age of the child. Infants and young toddlers will require more basic, gentle play, while older children will need more challenging activities. In dealing with a wide range of children, you must come up with day care activity that will meet all of their needs. It is possible with a little creativity and patience.
Infants and toddlers are hungry for good day care activities as much as older children do. Younger infants need plenty of floor time to help them in developing muscle strength and mobility. They will also love playing with bright colored rattles and soft toys. Older infants may enjoy pull toys, riding toys, large blocks, and stacking toys. Music, singing, and games such as peek-a-boo are very popular at this age.
Older toddlers needs day care activities that will help them discover new skills and concepts as puzzles, building blocks, arts and crafts, and outdoor play are important at this age. Dress up and memory games would be a fun day care activity. This age group are enhancing their mental and socialization skills. Older toddlers like to help adults, so with close and careful supervision, they can be encouraged to play with and help the younger babies.
Pre-schoolers need books in any day care programs, as these materials are crucial at this age. Read them stories as often as possible, keep plenty of colorful pictures in books and encourage these young ones to create their own stories to go with the pictures.
Day care activities should be scheduled if you are dealing with different age groups. For instance, you could have the preschool activity while infants enjoy their naptime, and vice versa. The schedules should be flexible yet, most children are not always cooperative with your plans. Make sure that you have at least one adult for each age group if you are combining and dealing with a large number of age groups for day care activities.
Outdoor play is an important activity for all age groups, even for infants. Older children prefer games such as Baseball, tag, or hide and seek while most children of any age group love to swing, slide, and play in the grass. Babies may simply enjoy the sunlight, as they need it for their growing bones.
When you plan carefully, you can easily find the appropriate day care activities for any age group you are working with. One key is to listen to the children, as they know what they want. If they enjoy certain day care activities, try to find other similar things to do or if not, look for alternatives. Even the most well intended day care activities will be worthless if you can't make the children cooperate with you.
